Shirley Webber
Managing Principal, Coverage Head: Resources & Energy Sector Absa Corporate and Investment Banking
Shirley joined Absa Bank Limited in 2011 and is the Coverage Head for Resources and Energy at Absa Corporate and Investment Banking. Her responsibilities include maintaining and growing relationships in the mining, metals, minerals, oil, gas, chemical, power and renewables industries• In 2024, Shirley was nominated to represent Absa at the Energy Council of South Africa. She participates in the Quarterly Leadership Forum and is a member of the Standing Committee on Investment and Finance. The Energy Council of South Africa is a non-profit body aimed at enabling a thriving and sustainable energy sector supporting inclusive economic growth.
In 2021, she was selected for the Power List of Pan-African female leaders in energy as one of Africa’s fifty most inspirational female energy executives.
Shirley has a wealth of experience working with key clients such as Anglo American, Glencore, Harmony Gold, Kosmos Energy, Sibanye-Stillwater, Petra Diamonds, Mainstream, First Quantum Minerals, Tullow Oil, Acwa Power, Enel, Globeleq, Infinity Power, Trafigura, Sonangol and Sasol, amongt others.
She is an industry expert and a sought-after speaker at global events including Africa Energy Week, the annual Mining Indaba, Green Energy Africa and Africa Energy Week.
Shirley holds a CAIB (SA) Associate Banking Diploma, a B.Com(Ed)(Cum Laude) and a B.Com Honours degree in Financial and Strategic Management.
