Lebogang Maile
MEC Gauteng Department of Finance & Economic Development
Lebogang Maile, Gauteng's MEC for Finance and Economic Development, is a key figure in South African politics. He rose to prominence as a youth activist during the country's transition to democracy, notably as COSAS President, influencing education policy. He progressed through the ANC Youth League, serving as Provincial Chairperson and advocating for youth development, which led to the formation of the Gauteng Youth Commission. Maile entered the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in 2009 and later served as MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Economic Development, and Human Settlements. He's championed development and access to resources. Elected Vice President of the Forum of Regions of Africa, he also chairs Gauteng's Governance Cluster and heads the ANC's provincial elections. An author and public policy advocate, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma and an LLB.
