The European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM) is a multi-stakeholder initiative bringing together governments, mineral supply chain actors and civil society organisations.
The aim of EPRM is to increase the proportion of responsibly produced and sourced minerals from artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) communities operating in conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRAs). The EPRM is an accompanying measure to the EU Responsible Minerals Regulation.
Since legislation alone is not enough to make a real change ‘on the ground’, the EPRM actively funds projects to support better social, environmental and economic conditions for mining communities in CAHRAs. Integral to EPRMs projects is a focus on connecting multiple supply chain actors to help them to comply with the standards required under the OECD Due Diligence Guidance. This enables ASM communities to access formal markets and allows companies across the supply chain to source minerals from responsible mine sites in CAHRAs, preventing disengagement from ASM.
