Cornelius Chimbanga is the General Manager of Konkola Mine in Chililabombwe and a highly respected leader in the African mining industry. With over 31 years of mining experience, his career spans a wide range of commodities, including gold, platinum, chrome, and copper, and reflects a deep commitment to operational excellence and sustainable value creation. Mr. Chimbanga has held senior leadership positions in South Africa and Zambia, where he has consistently driven transformation across complex mining operations. His experience covers underground mining, as well as the successful delivery of brownfield and greenfield projects, positioning him as a leader who understands both legacy operations and the future of mining. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the City University of London, a Government Certificate of Competence from South Africa’s Department of Minerals and Energy, and an Executive Development Diploma from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. At the core of his leadership is a clear vision: to build safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations that empower people, strengthen communities, and unlock long-term value for Africa’s mining sector.
