Malcolm Mewett

Acting CEO Konkola Copper Mines

Malcolm Mewett was appointed Chief Operations Officer of Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) in November 2023. Since his appointment, Malcolm has played a key role in overseeing KCM’s transition from liquidation to the full restart of operations. In this role as COO, he provides strategic leadership, while driving operational consolidation and the long-term growth strategy for the business. Malcolm brings a wealth of 42 years of experience in the global mining industry, where he has held senior leadership positions at major mining companies including, Eldorado Gold, Nyrstar and Pasminco. His expertise includes underground mining, smelting, operational readiness and management. Prior to joining KCM, Malcolm served as the Chief Operating Officer at Esan Ezcabasi and later as Vice President of the United Kingdom Fertilizer Division at Israel Chemicals Limited.
