Key Responsibilities

  • Outline, communicate and oversee the delivery of the energy related strategy for the portfolio, encompassing AOW and GEAS.
  • Set the strategy out clearly in the PDR and work with Event Director to complete, present and communicate to the portfolio.
  • Set and deliver AOW and GEA content programmes in line with the strategy.
  • Decision Making Overview:
    • Final say on the overall event lies with the VP who will set out his vision, strategy and positioning for AOW and GEAS.
    • Vision and strategy is owned by the VP and with the support of the ED it will be executed accordingly. The day-to-day management of the event and project timeline will be managed by the ED but the overall decision-making lies with the VP.
    • Decision making on immediate issues pertaining to EDs reports functionality remains with ED, however, decisions surrounding the brand or strategic direction of the events remain with the VP.
    • Event Director will hold weekly 1-2-1 to inform the VP of the progress of the time-line and general departmental management and progress. VP retains the overall decision on issues and challenges facing the products which are reported into him from the ED.
  • Lead and deliver on AOW, GEA and MI Ministerial and Head of State Attendance.
  • Support sales efforts with KAs to maximise revenue across AOW, GEA and MI. Sales inventory and pricing offers to be managed by the ED and CD.
  • Develop and manage Strategic Partnerships across AOW and GEA to add additional revenue opportunities and to add value to the brands.
  • Establish strategic events in line with the overall strategy. Inc. IAGC conference, Regional Roadshows and GCC Energy Summit. Work closely with the ED to manage the execution of each project.
  • Manage the Content teams, overseeing content strategy and delivery and manage the Executive Advisor for Southern Africa.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, senior government officials, industry associations and governing bodies to secure their involvement in both events and help shape the events content, seniority and importance.
  • Be the ambassador for the brands in industry and amongst a strong government network and leverage these relationships for the benefit of the events.
  • Be the lead external spokesperson for the events, conducting media interviews for trade and national media.
  • Have awareness of event budgets, working closely with the ED to ensure budgets are met. Day to day management will be the responsibility of the Event Director.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth and effective delivery of marketing and operational outputs that relate to content and government attendance.
  • Work closely to support the Event Director in ensuring commercial prospects are targeted and monetised in line with the strategy.
  • Oversee the strategy behind VIP attendance at the Energy events and deliver the VIP Programme.
  • In with the strategy provide support to the Senior Content & Project Manager to deliver the content programmes and individual projects (such as VIP and Ministerial attendance) at each event.
  • Implement, lead and engage with Advisory Boards for both AOW and GEAS.
  • Increase revenues from government-based strategic partnerships, specifically Governments and Ministries, including;
  • National Oil Companies
  • Trade agencies
  • Global Bodies – UN and Africa Union
  • Select commercial clients (when related to governmental presence)
  • To design and develop innovative revenue streams where possible.
  • To oversee and manage all Ministerial and Head of State attendance at all events in the portfolio, including Mining Indaba.
  • Internal reporting, LABS, budget management/delivery, PUR/PDR delivery, event plans, sales plans, sales inventory/pricing/offers/revenue targets to be led and managed by the ED.


Skills Required

  • Outstanding strategist with detailed knowledge of the energy sector, having operated in the industry for 5+ years.
  • Strong experience dealing with senior government officials, from Ministers to Heads of State, with a detailed understanding of doing business and building strategic relationships in Africa.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good at building effective working relationships at all levels and able to work effectively with senior partners.
  • Excellent leader who can clearly communicate a strategy, secure trust, motivate a team and deliver exceptional results.
  • First rate communicator with proven business development and negotiation skills.
  • Experience delivering media interviews to print and broadcast media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a content strategy for each event (both live and virtual), setting the timeline and securing buy in for the vision and goals.
  • Input into PUR/PDR and development of a 1-year & 3-year plan

  • Attend weekly portfolio leadership Labs

Job Purpose

We’re looking for a creative and analytical marketing manager who can play an instrumental role in the creation and roll out of Green Energy Africa. This role would suit someone with the experience and creativity to understand our audiences and articulate the benefits of attending in the most compelling and effective ways possible. This is a great role working in a dedicated cross-functional team who are all highly motivated to make it a real success. The Marketing Manager will ensure that all marketing activity aligns and integrates with both the brand objectives and strategic marketing plans, while driving delegate and sponsor acquisition, retention and advocacy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain deeper customer insight through regular meetings with core stakeholders. Use this insight to create event marketing strategies that translate into integrated strategic plans.
  • Drive content marketing activity that generates new delegate and sponsor audiences and retains existing customer groups.
  • Define target audience profiles (by role, sector, territory and company) and required reach for event; research plan to deliver required reach, and work with data team to deliver.
  • Work with campaigns teams and event marketing teams to ensure all plans translate into clear campaign and activity schedules, and meet required timelines, milestones and budgets; and that all elements of the plan are covered tactically, with someone accountable for delivering all aspects of the plan.
  • Ensure strong communication with key internal and external teams at all times, including weekly meetings to review activity, spend and results, and agree plans to optimise or remediate where needed.
  • Deliver compelling copywriting for all channels (including web, email, print) and create all promotional collateral for the campaign (print and digital).
  • Provide aggregated reporting of event KPI performance vs. delegate and lead targets, ensuring full ownership of monthly marketing KPIs, and weekly reporting.

 

Person Specification:


Experience required

  • Minimum three years’ experience of creating highly effective tactical marketing plans.
  • Practiced in managing and implementing all aspects of the marketing mix.
  • Experience in stakeholder management (internal and external)
  • Experience working with data and developing insights for reporting and improving customer experience.  
  • Experience of working within the events industry desirable.
  • Degree in marketing or business desirable.
