Nicole Uys
PhD Candidate University of Cape Town
Nicole is a PhD candidate under the Mineral to Metals Initiative within the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. She is UCT graduate with BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering (2014), a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, specialising in Entrepreneurship (2015). Her research is focused on developing a process mineralogical approach towards the design of viable process flowsheets within the zinc context. Her work is funded by the NRF and SAMMRI and she is a member of the SAIMM. Nicole is passionate about optimising metal production through waste minimisation / reprocessing and integrating renewable energy opportunities and would like to identify new opportunities by exploring the lifecycles of materials from an engineering and entrepreneurship perspective.
