High Commissioner to South Africa Commonwealth of Australia
Ms BRINK is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). She commenced her post as High Commissioner to South Africa, with non-resident accreditations to Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique and Namibia in January 2023. Ms Brink previously served as Deputy Permanent Representative at Australia’s Mission to the United Nations in New York and was Chef de Cabinet to the 75th President of the UN General Assembly. She has also held a number of senior trade positions, including Deputy Chief Negotiator of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, Chief Negotiator of the review of the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement and Assistant Secretary, Strategic Investment Branch.
Ms BRINK has previously served at Australia’s Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva and was Counsel at the Advisory Centre on WTO Law. She has published on trade and investment law.
Ms BRINK holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney and a Master of Laws from Columbia University in New York, which she attended as a Fulbright Scholar. Ms BRINK is an admitted Australian legal practitioner. She speaks French, and is married with two sons.
