Ms. Ashimi has over 2 decades’ experience advising on transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa. She established a bespoke law firm, TONBOFA Law Practice 15 years ago with offices in the United Kingdom and Nigeria that focuses on supporting businesses and governments in managing legal risks in infrastructure development projects in developing nations.
She has been part of teams that have taken natural resources projects from development to production and has been involved in project structuring, strategy, licensing, acquisition and financier’s due diligence, ESG planning and implementation, documentation negotiations and drafting of: asset purchase, equity and debt financing (involving DFIs, commercial banks) agreements; EPC/M and Power Purchase Agreements; Government fiscal concession agreements.
Ms. Ashimi has served on several notable Boards and has worked with West African Governments on policy formulation and drafting of regulations and laws involving the energy and finance sectors.
Ms. Ashimi has a Master of Laws (LLM) from Harvard Law School, USA. She is a New York Attorney, Solicitor of England and Wales and is called to the Nigeria Bar. She has a LLB Law (Honours) from University of Lagos, Nigeria.
